Conference Venue
The conference will be located on the MIT campus, located along the Charles River in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The main campus address is 77 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, MA. More detailed directions will be posted when the exact venues are confirmed. See a campus map and more visitor information.
Travel to Cambridge
Flying
Boston is served by the Logan International Airport (BOS), located only a short distance from the MIT campus. Domestic travelers may also consider the Manchester, New Hampshire airport (MHT), located roughly one hour’s drive away. Travelers to the Logan International Airport can travel to conference hotels by rental car, hotel shuttle, taxicab, or the MBTA subway system. Travelers can board the MBTA Silver Line at the airport, which provides a free connection to any station in the MBTA system.
Inter-City Train and Bus Service
Boston’s South Station is the northern terminus of Amtrak’s Northeast Regional train route, which provides access to New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. In addition, the Amtrak Downeaster connects Boston’s North Station with points north in the picturesque states of New Hampshire and Maine. In addition, several bus operators (including Greyhound, Peter Pan, Bolt (New York), and Concord Trailways (Maine and New Hampshire)) provide frequent and inexpensive service to many points in New England and beyond. Most bus service is from the South Station Bus Terminal.
Car
Cambridge is accessible by car via the I-95 and I-93 interstates. Conference participants are discouraged from traveling to the conference venue by car (see below).
Travel Within Boston and Cambridge
Public Transit
The Boston region is served by the MBTA, which operates a subway, bus, commuter rail, and boat service. The conference venue is accessible from the MBTA’s Red Line via the Kendall/MIT Station, or via the 77 Massachusetts Avenue stop on the MBTA #1 bus. Subway fare is $2.00 with a CharlieCard ($2.50 cash), and bus fare is $1.50 with a CharlieCard ($2.00 cash).
Bicycle
Cambridge and Boston are also served by the Hubway bike sharing system. Bicycles can be borrowed from any station starting at $6 for a 24-hour pass, or $12 for a 72-hour pass. Trips under 30 minutes are free with a pass. Bicycles are available for rent for longer periods from area bicycle stores. Metropolitan Boston has a growing network of bike paths and trails.
Car
The MIT campus has a very limited amount of visitor parking, see this webpage for more information. Most hotels provide parking for an additional charge of $40-50 per day. Travelers with vehicles are encouraged to inquire about parking with their hotel.
